In the audience’s hands: The Totally Improvised Musical

Two new musicals will be performed at the 2025 Buxton Fringe courtesy of The Totally Improvised Company.

Performer Sean Mason said about The Totally Improvised Musical, “the cast have no clue about the characters, choruses, choreography or even what key we’re meant to be in until we get the title of the musical from you. It's your own bespoke musical every night.”

Bron Edge, who also performs in the show and started The Totally Improvised Company in 2001, added, “some nights you end up singing a really touching love song and sometimes you end up doing a dance about ham. We go with whatever title the audience votes for and Buxton audiences never disappoint.”

The company gives a prize for the best show title, so audiences are advised to go prepared with their wackiest ideas. Previous show titles have included The Town Where Everyone Is Called Jeffrey, Lawnmowers! The Musical, Sweeney Toddlers, My Grandma is a Parasite, The Book of More Men and Miserable Les.

The Totally Improvised Musical will be staged Underground at the Working Men’s Club, Buxton at 4PM on Sunday 13 July and 7PM on Friday 25 July.
