A dance company consisting of wheelchair users, learning disabled dancers and non-disabled dancers is to perform at the Stroud Theatre Festival in Gloucestershire—the first time it has taken to the stage since lockdown.
VIA Dance Company will present The Circle of Life at the Lansdown Hall and Gallery, Stroud on Saturday 17 September at 3PM.
The performance was devised by VIA during lockdown over Zoom sessions. It is a “fun and colourful piece on the surface but has deeper meanings hidden throughout”. The performance also contains a poem, written by the group, highlighting the effect of the pandemic on mental health and makes references to hierarchy in the animal kingdom and the destruction of the planet due to climate change.
VIA is part of the Gloucester-based charity Art Shape. Further information is available at the Art Shape web site.
The tenth Stroud Theatre Festival will take place at various venues in the town from Friday 16 until Sunday 18 September.
