Red Dust Road

The National Theatre of Scotland and HOME in Manchester present the soul-searching memoir Red Dust Road written by Jackie Kay

Adapted for the stage by Tanika Gupta, the cast includes Stefan Adegbola, Irene Allan, Elicia Daly, Sasha Frost and Elaine C Smith.

It will open at the Royal Lyceum Theatre as part of the Edinburgh International Festival, previewing at the Beacon Arts Centre, and touring to Macrobert Arts Centre, Eden Court and HOME Manchester from August 10 to September 21.

From the moment when, as a little girl, she realises her skin is a different colour from that of her beloved mum and dad, to the tracing and finding of her birth parents, her Highland mother and Nigerian father, Jackie Kay’s journey is one of twists, turns and deep emotions.

Jackie spoke about her memoir and the adaptation to the BTG podcast in May 2019.
