Joey stops to meet the Chairman of Chester Racecourse Martin Beaumont

Joey, star of War Horse, was definitely ‘the one to watch’ at Chester Races.

The life-sized horse puppet star of the National Theatre’s production of War Horse surprised race-goers at Chester Racecourse and took a winning jockey for a ride.

On his day off from performing at The Lowry, Salford, Joey went ‘the extra furlong’ and trotted to Chester Racecourse with War Horse cast members to present the prize to the winning jockey of ‘The War Horse at The Lowry Salford Handicap Stakes’.

Joey is planning his next off-stage appearance at Southport Flower Show on August 14.
