Legendary Kenneth Alan Taylor will return to the stage this Christmas as Nurse Nelly Noggins in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood at Nottingham Playhouse.
Taylor, who will be writing and directing his 29th panto for the Playhouse, commented, “I know I said I would hang up the dress after appearing as Widow Twankey in 2008’s Aladdin, but while writing this new version of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood I confess I had the urge to don some frocks, high heels and make-up.
“My youngest grandchildren are now the perfect age to experience pantomime and I’m thrilled to be able to take to the stage again so they can see their granddad in all his dame glory!”
Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood tells the story of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Playhouse favourite John Elkington, who’s hatched a cunning plan to “dispose” of his niece and nephew so that he can inherit their fortune.
Robin Hood sets out to thwart his plans and win the heart Maid Marian in the process.
Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood will run from Friday, 30 November until Saturday, 19 January.
