Kenneth Alan Taylor is to play dame for the final time in Jack and the Beanstalk

Kenneth Alan Taylor’s 30-year reign as dame in Nottingham Playhouse’s pantos comes to an end when he returns for one last time.

He will play Dame Daisy in Jack and the Beanstalk, the panto which marked the start of his career.

Kenneth Alan Taylor takes his place in the history books with more than half a century of pantos at Oldham Coliseum and Nottingham Playhouse.

He was artistic director of Nottingham Playhouse for seven years and was responsible for starting panto there.

He has been writing pantos since 1962 and has also directed as well as performing in those shows.

He said, “Thirty years ago I could never have imagined that I would still be presenting and appearing in panto at the Playhouse three decades on. I know I have said it a few times before, but this is definitely my last appearance as dame.

“I feel so fortunate to have been doing something I absolutely love for 30 years, and for that I must thank the Nottingham audiences who’ve given me such support and pleasure.”

Joining him on stage will be Playhouse panto favourites John Elkington, Rebecca Little and Daniel Hoffmann-Gill.

Jack and the Beanstalk runs from Friday 29 November until Saturday 18 January.
