La Boheme - Opera North

The lives and loves of a group of young bohemians in Paris return to The Lowry in Opera North’s blockbuster production of La Bohème in May; one of the most popular and heartbreaking operas of all time.

Directed by multi award-winning theatre, opera and film director Phyllida Lloyd, whose credits include the films Mamma Mia (2008) and The Iron Lady (2011), this evergreen production of La Bohème updates the original setting to the late 1950s, a time when art, music and philosophy reigned in Paris.

Anthony Ward’s (Carousel, Peter Grimes) atmospheric set designs vividly convey the hustle and bustle of the Parisian streets and the Left Bank cafes and clubs, giving full expression to the joy, wit and frivolity of student life.

It runs from May 14-17 and is sung in Italian with English titles.
