Lear without tears for Manchester

A unique opportunity to experience King Lear, told through the very mind of the man himself, dispenses with the other 29 characters in the original play and can be seen in Manchester at the end of July.

It is playwright Frank Bramwell’s fifth sequel to Shakespeare’s plays. Romeo & Juliet for All Time won an award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a play “that stood head and shoulders above other plays reviewed”.

Bob Young, who plays King Lear, said, “I am very excited to be performing this one-man King Lear in this, my 70th year. Shakespeare's play explores many of the pitfalls of growing old but Frank Bramwell’s new take also looks to identify some of its positives. I’m sure that this Lear will give the audience plenty to think about.”
