Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre's work experience event is for young people aged 14–19 (excluding university students) during Careers in Theatre Week, 13–17 January 2025.
This annual event, which is usually attended by fifty young people from across Greater Manchester, includes workshops with Royal Exchange Theatre staff, artists and practitioners for participants to discover the different elements that make a producing theatre come to life.
Last year's event featured actor Gurjeet Singh alongside fellow actor Conor Glean, who has played Romeo in Romeo & Juliet at the theatre the previous year, plus facilitators including Brief Encounter designer Rose Revitt, Artistic Director Keisha Thompson, playwright and artist Reuben Johnson, director Nickie Wildin and sound designer Mark Melville. The students also got to have a go at costume, prosthetic make-up, costume, lighting, sound and more.
Prospective participants should apply on the Royal Exchange web site.
The theatre also has a programme of workshops and projects for 14- to 25-year-olds, which can be accessed via an Arts Pot membership at £80 per year or booked as one-off workshops at £10 each.
