Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood

Kenneth Alan Taylor is preparing for his return to the stage in the 29th panto he has written and directed for Nottingham Playhouse.

One of the most prolific panto playwrights in England, Taylor commented, “I know I said I would hang up the dress after appearing as Widow Twankey in Aladdin four years ago, but while writing this new version of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, I confess the urge to don some frocks, high heels, make-up and a pair of heart-shaped specs came right back to me.

“My youngest grandchildren are now the perfect age to experience panto and I’m thrilled to be able to take to the stage again so they can see their granddad in all his dame glory!”

He will play nurse Nelly Noggins in the show which involves the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Playhouse favourite John Elkington, hatching a cunning plan to dispose of his niece and nephew so that he can inherit their fortune.

Adam Barlow returns to the Playhouse to take on the role of Robin Hood; last year he was Buttons in Cinderella.

Danielle Corlass, who played the title role in Cinderella, is Maid Marian.

The cast is completed by Rebecca Little as Tilly Tuck the Tomboy; Anthony Hoggard as Arnold; Hannah Whittingham as Milly Miller; and Tim Frater as Will Scarlet.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood runs from Friday (30 November) until Saturday, 19 January.
