An LGBTQ+ festival for 3- to 11-year-old children and their grown-ups is to be held in Birmingham to “celebrate the diversity of identities and alternative families” across the city.

The inaugural No Outsiders Family Festival will be held in partnership with Birmingham Pride and Midlands Arts Centre. It has been conceived and produced by Dr Hannah Phillips.

There will be circus workshops with physical theatre company Rogueplay, a semi-classical Bollywood dance taster with dance artist and choreographer Jaivant Patel and a workshop of music and movement by Open Theatre who use non-verbal physical theatre to collaborate with young people with learning disabilities.

Andrew Moffat MBE, teacher, author and founder of No Outsiders, said, “we want all children to know that they belong in the fantastic, diverse city of Birmingham and the No Outsiders Family Festival is a great way to celebrate that.

“We’re overjoyed to be working with Birmingham Pride and to offer a new festival specifically designed for children and their families as part of Pride weekend.”

The free festival will be held at Midlands Arts Centre on Sunday 26 September from 11AM until 4PM.
