The Garrick at Lichfield has moved away from Christmas musicals, which it has staged for the past two years, and is bringing back pantomime.

It will present Snow White and the Magic Mirror which, according to chief executive and artistic director Adrian Jackson, will be a fun show.

Snow White will have it all: spectacular Christmas scenes, great music and dance routines, and a dame the kids will love.”

BBC Midlands Today presenter Joanne Malin will play the Evil Queen Evilene.

She played the Fairy Godmother at the Garrick in Cinderella in 2007 and Fairy Bow Bells in Dick Whittington in 2008.

She said, “I’m really excited about playing the wicked Queen and being back on stage at the Garrick. I fell in love with Lichfield while playing the Fairy Godmother six years ago, so I’m really looking forward to being back.

“My biggest challenge is being the baddie for the first time. I can't wait for all the booing and hissing that will come my way during a show full of lots of panto fun.”

The cast also includes Ian Adams as Dame Fraulein Strudel, Katie Marie as Snow White and Daryl Armstrong as Prince Harry.

Snow White and the Magic Mirror runs at Lichfield Garrick from Thursday (5 December) until Sunday 5 January.
