The Glass Menagerie

Stage and screen actress Geraldine Somerville, who made her Manchester Royal Exchange debut as Laura Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie in 1989, returns there June 5 to July 4 to become Amanda Wingfield.

Somerville’s career includes iconic film, television and stage roles such as Lily Potter in the Harry Potter franchise and DS Jane Penhaligon in the ITV series Cracker for which she was nominated for a BAFTA.

Recent film credits include The Gentlemen, Goodbye Christopher Robin and The Hippopotamus.

She is joined by Joshua James (Tom Wingfield), Oseloka Obi (Jim O’Connor) and Rhiannon Clements as Laura who returns following her role in the Exchange’s current production Wuthering Heights.

Williams’s bruising portrayal sees a family on the brink of change.
