More than 85,000 people attended the 11-day SO Festival, supported by Arts Council England to discover new audiences in east Lincolnshire.

The programme visited Horncastle, Louth, Alford, Mablethorpe, Woodhall Spa and Spilsby before ending with a three-day spectacular in Skegness.

Among the artists performing was Candoco Dance Company which showcased in Skegness its piece Two for C.

Dancer Adam Gain said, “the audiences were great and very welcoming; we had a brilliant time performing to them. For us it was a way to expose the arts and dance to holidaymakers and locals who wouldn’t normally expect it.”

Festival director Lorna Fulton added, “the 11 days were fantastic. This year we wanted to be bigger and better. Therefore we had even more performers and extended the event to reach more people across East Lindsay.

“As a result we had more people attending the event than ever before and I can’t wait for next year’s festival as we continue to make it even better.”
