Jim Beirne, Chief Executive Officer of Newcastle’s Live Theatre, has delayed his planned departure because of the Coronavirus pandemic. He will continue to lead on managing the impact of the virus on the theatre.

“These are very challenging times for all of the cultural sector,” he said, “and I want to leave Live Theatre in a strong position for when this is all over. I want to support the Board of Trustees and the incredible staff team through this and now is not the time for more change.”

The recruitment process for his replacement, which had started, has been paused and will restart early in 2021.

The theatre closed on 16 March with all planned shows, youth theatre and Live Tales activities being cancelled.

Supporters are being asked to make a donation to help the theatre survive the shut-down by going to a donations page on the web site.
