Silverstone Half Marathon

Earlier this month, Team Lowry runners took part in the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon, the official warm-up event for the Virgin London Marathon next month.

For the first time in The Lowry’s history, it has entered a team to run the London Marathon with the aim of raising awareness of The Lowry as a charitable cause and raise funds to support its community and educational projects.

This latest fundraising initiative follows The Lowry’s Christmas Appeal which raised £20,000 towards a project with Salford’s looked after children. Each runner has committed to raising £1,500 to contribute to The Lowry Centre Trust’s groundbreaking projects in the local community.

The Lowry is a registered charity and only receives 10% of it’s funding from public sources (Arts Council & Salford City Council). The income raised from the London Marathon will support The Lowry’s wider community engagement programme, which each year offers more than 30,000 free opportunities from vocational training to community arts-making projects.
