The Lowry has unveiled its programme for the start of 2014.

It had already announced that War Horse, the best-selling show in The Lowry’s 13-year history, will return over the summer due to phenomenal demand but among other headline drama productions is Propeller’s Shakespearian double act, A Comedy of Errors / A Midsummer Night’s Dream; whilst the comprehensive education system goes under the microscope in Teechers by John Godber.

Other drama and musicals include a brand new production of Fame: The Musical and, direct from the West End, Chariots of Fire. The Seagull by Anton Chekhov will be the Library Theatre Company’s final performance at The Lowry before their move to HOME at the First Street development.

Meanwhile, two productions of Macbeth will bring the classic tale to two very different audiences. The first by Shakespeare 4 Kidz and then by Opera North.

Dance fans will be treated to, among others, the world première of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s interpretation of The Prince of the Pagodas, Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies and Hofesh Shechter’s hotly-anticipated new show, Sun.

For families, Horrible Histories presents Barmy Britain. There’s also Tall Stories’ adaptation of The Gruffalo and Scooby Doo: The Mystery of the Pyramind.

In The Studio, productions include: Prelude to a Number by Geddes Loom, 53 North and Routes North; How To Be Immortal by Penny Dreadful Theatre; and Rasa Theatre Journeys’ States Of Verbal Undress.
