Week 53—a major new cross arts festival at The Lowry, Salford—runs from April 28 to May 8.
It features two world premières: Last Resort, a play about music appropriation in Guantanamo, and Handle with Care, an immersive play about the things we hold onto.
Also, 30 Days of The Smiths is a music-based project with residents of Salford named Smith and plays reflecting on current political topics: Eddie Izzard’s Force Majeure, Funmbi Omotayo’s Legal Immigrant and Ahilan Ratnamohan’s Star Boy Productions.
It brings together more than 200 artists and 63 performances in 11 days with installations, exhibitions and plays. The theme is Locus—our relationship with place.
