Lucie Jones will play Elle Woods in a new production of the musical comedy Legally Blonde at Leicester’s Curve, artistic director Nikolai Foster has announced.

Jones rose to prominence on The X Factor in 2009 and has since taken the roles of Victoria in American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre and Molly in the Asian tour of Ghost.

Ian Kelsey, who was Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago, will play Callahan, Danny Mac is Warner and Jon Robyns plays Emmett.

Foster who directs said, “we’re delighted to have found such a brilliant leading lady and the perfect Elle Woods in Lucie Jones. Lucie not only brings bags of panache, style and fun to Elle but also masses of humility and integrity.

“We’re also thrilled to welcome a trio of exceptional leading men to Curve in Danny Mac, Ian Kelsey and Jon Robyns.”

Legally Blonde runs at Curve from Monday 11 April until Saturday 14 May. Press night will be Thursday 14 April.
