An arts collective which aims to spotlight the work of marginalised and under-represented artists is to host a day of workshops and networking opportunities at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre.

Spearheaded by Zimbawean artist and activist Laura Nyahuye, Maokwo was founded in the city and since 2017 it has been working with artists from BAME, refugee and migrant backgrounds to identify and understand the challenges they face.

Maokwo is supported by the Belgrade’s Springboard talent development programme which it joined in 2019.

We Are Maokwo will be held at the Belgrade from 2 until 4:30PM on Saturday 14 March. Workshops will be followed by a panel discussion, Not Another Tick Box, which aims to inspire creative solutions for marginalised artists.
