Liverpool playwright, actor and producer Saphena Aziz returns to the Liverpool stage with Martha, Me and My Family, the autobiographical tale of Saphena’s time singing background vocals with Motown legend Martha Reeves.
Juxtaposed with Saphena’s experience as a child of the Windrush generation, the play examines the legacy of Empire.
Martha, Me and My Family has received funding from Unity Theatre’s Open Call programme and Arts Council England. The production will receive its world première at Unity April 14.
