Maverick Theatre’s production of Jim Cartwright’s comedy drama Two which finished a run in April at Theatre at the Tabard, Chiswick is to return to Birmingham to the pub where Maverick started.

Artistic director Nick Hennegan said, “we’ve had a great run in London and I love that we’re now ‘transferring’ the show to the Billesley pub. We first produced this play 25 years ago at the Billesley. We've performed around the world since then but we're so delighted to be back.

“We’ll even be in the same room where we launched the concept of professional pub theatre in the city. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham officially launched us—and we’re inviting the current Lord Mayor this time.

Two has lost none of its humour or relevance. There are two actors playing 14 different characters and it’s set over one night in your local pub. It makes audiences laugh and cry. It’s real ‘event’ theatre.

“We have two brilliant West End actors, Greg Snowden and Claire Louise Amias, who have strong Midlands links, and an emerging director Richard Woolnough—which is a hallmark of Maverick’s work in encouraging new talent.”

Two can be seen at the Billesley pub on Brook Lane, Birmingham from Tuesday 13 until Thursday 15 June.
