A new portrait of actor Maxine Peake is to debut in an exhibition at The Lowry in Salford, the city where she is based.

It will be seen for the first time in the forthcoming Jonathan Yeo exhibition, an artist famed for his striking paintings of stage personalities, screen icons and political figures.

Peake is the latest in a line of renowned stage and screen personalities to be immortalised on canvas by the British portrait artist.

Star of current BBC drama Silk and lauded for her stage performances, including Masque of Anarchy at the Manchester International Festival, Peake’s portrait will be seen for the first time in the Jonathan Yeo Portraits exhibition at The Lowry, Salford between March 15 and June 29.
