Michelle Collins, noted for her television roles in both EastEnders and Coronation Street who earlier in 2022 was in the touring production based on the board game Cluedo, is to appear in panto in Chesterfield.

Collins—home-wrecker Cindy Beale in EastEnders and Rovers Return landlady Stella Price in Coronation Street—took the role of Miss Scarlett in the Kilimanjaro Productions whodunnit Cluedo.

She will play the bad fairy Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty which is “shaping up to be Chesterfield’s biggest and brightest panto”.

The cast also includes Jai McDowell who won the fifth season of Britain’s Got Talent and Lloyd Warbey, host of the children’ television show Disney’s Art Attack. Di Cooke will direct.

Pantomime producer Paul Holman said, “I’m thrilled Michelle Collins will be leading this year’s cast in Chesterfield and I’m sure audiences are going to love her stellar performance as a pantomime baddie. She’s joined by a very talented and exciting cast with Jai and Lloyd.

“The production of Sleeping Beauty promises an adventure for all the family, with exciting special effects depicting Princess Aurora’s 100-year sleep, glittering costumes and lots of traditional audience participation in what’s shaping up to be Chesterfield’s biggest and brightest panto.”

Sleeping Beauty will be performed at the Winding Wheel Theatre while the nearby Pomegranate Theatre is closed for a major refurbishment. It will run from Tuesday 6 December until Tuesday 3 January 2023.
