Birmingham Hippodrome and the surrounding area will be transformed into a lunar landscape for the Summer in Southside weekend which will celebrate 50 years since the first moon landing.

Visitors will be able to see Hippodrome associate company Motionhouse performing its dance piece Gravity and also witness Highly Sprung’s walkabout physical performance featuring an astronaut suspended 20 feet in the air.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Birmingham Hippodrome has teamed up with the Bullring and Grand Central shopping destination for Summer in the City. During Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July, visitors can enjoy various performances in Rotunda Square.

Mind the Gap’s interactive performance Mirror Mirror will involve two robotic creatures from a far-off land exploring their newly found planet and mirroring their findings.

Gobbledegook Theatre will transform a space into a cloud-gazing area, inviting people to look up at the sky while the company performs a creative monologue about space, the clouds, the sky and beyond.
