The programme has been launched for the first-ever Morecambe Shakespeare Festival taking place over the weekend of April 22-24.
There are 13 theatrical productions including adaptations of The Tempest, Macbeth, Henry V, Romeo & Juliet, Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
There’s also an evening of Showstopping Shakespeare, a celebration of the songs from the shows based on the Bard’s works, A Shakespearean Murder Mystery at Morecambe Library, wine tasting, comedy dinner theatre at the Midland Hotel and a Shakespeare Slam which will bring the Sonnets of Shakespeare up-to-date in the hands of award-winning poets.
Theatre isn’t the only entertainment over the weekend as puppet shows, author events, orchestral shakespeare, workshops and even a midnight matinée of Theatre of Blood at the Winter Gardens Theatre will be on offer.
