Artistic Director Tamara Harvey has announced full casting for her Theatr Clwyd directorial debut production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in the venue's 40th anniversary year.
In the roles of Beatrice and Benedick will be Lisa Palfrey and John Ramm. They are joined by David Bark-Jones as Don Pedro, Jonathan Harden as Borachio, Siân Howard as Leonata, Nakay Kpaka as Claudio, Steven Meo as Don John, Catherine Morris as Margaret, Lowri Palfrey as Hero, Kerry Peers as Friar Francis, and Sion Pritchard as Dogberry.
Harvey said, "Much Ado About Nothing is a play about love and laughter and that moment when you fall in love with the last person in the world you expect to fall in love with. Also, the fact that women have the right to choose who they spend their lives with.
"For this production, we’ve brought the stage into the centre of the Anthony Hopkins Theatre and the audience are seated around it to add intimacy to the space and ensure that everyone feels they’re part of the celebration. We’ve set the play in Portmeirion to create the feeling of being by the seaside, of summer—dancing and making merry."
The production will be designed by Janet Bird with lighting by Johanna Town and choreography by Joe Walkling with Richard Hammerton as composer and sound designer.
It runs at the Anthony Hopkins Theatre from 9 June to 2 July 2016.
