Murder and mystery in Nottingham thriller season

The Classic Thriller Season

The 25th annual Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season gets under way this week in Nottingham, with a company of actors performing four different plays over four weeks at the city’s Theatre Royal.

Tabs Productions and Theatre Royal Nottingham who co-produce the season promise a month of “murder, intrigue, mystery and first-class entertainment”.

Mary Elliott Nelson’s Murder Live! is the first show and runs from Monday (29 July) until Saturday (3 August).

The latest reality TV show is being made in a secluded house on a small island off the Cornish coast. Will millions of people watch as the contestants are eliminated?

Francis Durbridge’s plays are often an ingredient of the thriller season and this year is no exception. The Gentle Hook which features a woman killing an intruder in her home runs from 5 until 10 August.

Murder Mistaken by Janet Green is the third play, from 12 until 17 August, and the season ends with Anthony Shaffer’s Murderer.

This year’s cast comprises Jo Castleton, Susan Earnshaw, David Gilbrook, John Goodrum, Susie Hawthorn, Karen Henson, Sarah Wynne Kordas, Adrian Lloyd-James, Al Naed, Andrew Ryan, Chris Sheridan, Angie Smith and Jeremy Lloyd Thomas.

The production team includes Geoff Wilder, Angie Spencer and Alison Willcox.
