Robin CrouchSam Hallam, who was convicted of murder seven years ago following a street fight, has been granted a new appeal just before a verbatim play about his case, Someone to Blame, opens at the King's Head Theatre in Islington.

Recent RADA graduate Robin Crouch (pictured) will make his stage debut as Hallam in this verbatim piece created by director David Mercatali and writer Tess Berry-Hart from police interviews, court transcripts and independent interviews.

Campaigner Paul May—played by Keith Hill in the play—who was involved with the campaigns to release the Birmingham Six, the Bridgewater Four, Judith Ward, Danny McNamee and many others, said, "Hopes are high among Sam Hallam’s supporters that his long nightmare of wrongful imprisonment will end in May," adding, "The appeal will either result in Sam’s conviction being upheld, or a reserved judgement, it could be quashed and Sam released or a new trial could be ordered."

Someone to Blame will run at the King's Head Theatre from 6 to 31 March.
