Thrilled: Royal and Derngate artistic director James Dacre

The first conference in the country to have a focus on touring musical theatre is to be staged at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate.

Produced by Musical Theatre Network and Mercury Musical Developments, the UK Musical Theatre Conference 2019 will be held outside London for the first time.

Royal and Derngate was chosen because of its three-year initiative focusing on developing new musical theatre for mid-scale touring.

Artistic director James Dacre said, “we’re thrilled to host the UK Musical Theatre Conference. We look forward to welcoming artists, practitioners and organisations from across the industry to join the conversation.”

The conference will take place on Friday 15 March. Places can be booked at the Royal and Derngate web site.
