A musical telling the story of how four young New Yorkers’ lives intersect as they search for “fulfilment, happiness, love and cabs” is to return to a Birmingham theatre before transferring to London.
Ordinary Days the Musical will return to the Old Joint Stock Theatre, Birmingham after being performed there in 2017. It is an “original musical for anyone who's ever struggled to appreciate the simple things in a complex place. With equal doses of humour and poignancy, it celebrates how 8.3 million individual stories combine in unexpected ways to make New York City a unique and extraordinary home.”
Director Karl Steele commented, “there’s something beautifully subtle about Ordinary Days and I’ve had the pleasure of directing this piece previously. I've loved exploring how a shared experience, a connection, a coincidence can form in any way during your everyday routine and how that can bring people together—the ordinary being extraordinary. What's wonderful about this piece is finding those layers and revealing how connected we all are without always being aware of it.”
The musical will be produced by the Old Joint Stock with West End Best Friend Productions. It will play at the Old Joint Stock Theatre from Wednesday 9 until Sunday 20 April 2025 before transferring to Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Highgate Village, London from Tuesday 22 until Sunday 27 April.
