Birmingham REP is off to Narnia for Christmas 2015 with an adaptation of C S Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

This new production is directed by the REP’s associate director Tessa Walker who previously directed the theatre’s 2013 show A Christmas Carol.

She said, “I’m thrilled we’re heading to Narnia this Christmas. The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe is a classic story that touches young and old and this vivid stage adaptation will bring a little bit of magic to the winter season.

“Combining a sense of adventure, humour and thrilling fights with some amazing theatrical tricks and wonderful magical puppets, the show will, we hope, capture everyone’s imagination and allow a whole new generation to experience C S Lewis’s timeless story.”

Leading the ensemble cast are Michael Lanni, Leonie Elliott, James Thackeray and Emilie Fleming as Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Playing the White Witch is Allison McKenzie and bringing Aslan to life is Nuno Silva.

Thomas Aldridge and Sophia Nomvete play Mr and Mr Beaver and Jo Servi will play Mr Tumnus. The cast also includes David Albury, Charles Armstrong, Danielle Bird, James Charlton and Emily Goodenough.

Designer is Jamie Vartan and movement director is Polly Bennett. Colin Grenfell is lighting designer, Emma Laxton is sound designer and Neil MacDonald is musical director. Puppets will be created by Mervyn Millar and Jo Larkin.

The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe runs from Friday 20 November until Saturday 16 January 2016.
