The Great British Pantomime Awards

There are nine nominees from the region for the Great British Pantomime Awards. They are:

Best Ensemble

Dick Whittington at Middlesbrough Theatre

Best Pantomime Animal

Charlie Raine for Cutlet the Sheep in Beauty and the Beast at the Customs House, South Shields.

Best Comic

David John Hopper for Beauty and the Beast at the Customs House, South Shields.

Best Principal Boy

Josh Andrews for Peter Pan at Sunderland Empire.

Best Director

Jimmy Johnson for Peter Pan at Sunderland Empire.

Best Choreography

James Robinson for Dick Whittington at Middlesbrough Theatre.

Best Speciality Act

Berserk Riders in Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the Theatre Royal Newcastle.

Best Staging and Set

Fox and Shriek for Beauty and the Beast at the Customs House, South Shields.

Best Lighting / Video

Ben Cracknell for Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle.

The nominees were announced this evening by online streaming by Al Murray, who won Best Newcomer last year. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 28 April 2019.
