Birmingham’s Blue Orange Theatre is to present four “vibrant” pieces of new writing which have all been composed with Valentine’s Day in mind.

Love Stories is the culmination of a competition held by Blue Orange writers. The stories “contemplate love in all its many guises”.

The four plays are Peter Corser’s Singular Romantics, featuring a couple who have been set up on a blind date, Aquarius and Lady Nightshade Go on a Date by Jasmine Brown, which asks whether a couple really know of each other’s existence outside the restaurant where they meet, Richard D Price’s Dying Wish, described as “a story of life-long devotion”, and The Worst it Can Do is Rain by John Palmer, about a couple of “second-timers” in a relationship who do anything to avoid asking a big question.

Love Stories can be seen at the Blue Orange Theatre from Thursday until Saturday (12 to 14 February).
