“Exciting time”: new Culture Central chair Cassie Chadderton

Native West Midlander Cassie Chadderton is the new chair of Culture Central, the “collective voice of the cultural sector in the West Midlands”.

She is a former director of media and stakeholder relations at Arts Council England and was head of UK Theatre. She is currently chief executive of World Book Day.

Chadderton said, “with the combined promise of Coventry City of Culture and the Commonwealth Games, and as the sector takes sure steps to recovering from the pandemic, it’s an exciting time to take on the role of chair of Culture Central.

“My love of arts and culture comes from the extraordinary range of culturally diverse and excellent opportunities that surrounded me as I grew up in Birmingham.

“I’m looking forward to working with (director) Erica (Love), Culture Central’s board and its members to do even more of what it does so well: helping the sector make the most of its collective power and creativity to be both resilient and representative of the people and places of the West Midlands.”

Chadderton takes over from Roisin Caffrey who has chaired Culture Central for the past three years.
