Vision: Morag Ballantyne is the new chair of trustees of the Corby Cube Theatre Trust

Corby Cube Theatre Trust, the charity which runs Northamptonshire venue The Core at Corby Cube, has appointed Morag Ballantyne as its new chair of trustees.

It follows the retirement of the Core’s first chair, Les Manning.

The board of trustees selected Morag Ballantyne due to her expertise in arts marketing and fundraising, and her understanding of charity governance.

She is an experienced consultant and mentor, works with a wide range of cultural organisations and creative businesses, and is lead consultant with Creative Northants, the business development agency for the county's cultural and creative industries.

Martin Sutherland, the Core’s chief executive, said, “I’m really looking forward to working with Morag to ensure that the Core remains a vital and resilient organisation.”

Peter Knott, area director of Arts Council England, added, “Morag will bring a wealth of experience to her new role. She’s clearly passionate about arts and culture and has already played an active role both within Corby and the surrounding area and we welcome her appointment.”

Morag Ballantyne commented, “I’m excited to be taking up the position and look forward to working with the trustees and the staff to realise our vision to be a nationally recognised centre for participatory arts and a home for the talent, ideas and creativity of local people.

“This is a vibrant area and the Core has a central role to play in the continuing growth and development of the town and the wider borough.”

The Core at Corby Cube opened in November 2010 and houses a 445-seat theatre with studio spaces.
