And all the Humans will be Eliminated

New physical dance-theatre collective State of Grace is to present its inaugural show, And all the Humans will be Eliminated, in the Discovery Museum, Newcastle, this month.

The company both trains themselves and others in the UK and overseas, as well as making work which “mixes dynamic physical dance-theatre with classical and digital, live-coded sound art and song, telling stories that dig beneath the skin.”

Its first UK production is, the company says, “a dark, twisty and distinctly left-field tale. Six Lost Souls and a Manipulator of Sound face themselves and each other in a wild Dance of Death and Redemption. Who will be saved—one, all, none?”

“It seems like a crazy idea to launch a new company these days,” says Ben Ayrton, Stage of Grace’s Artistic Director, “but we are because we must and we're fortunate enough to be working with some extraordinary young North East artists / talent. They have such big hearts too and I want them to be supported as they're brave, forward looking, enterprising and ethical.

“We're somewhere between theatre and dance and performance art—we can't really define it, and this show will be done on an absolute shoestring and in double quick time too: just two weeks rehearsal.”

The performers are Charlie Dearnley, Peter Kerry-Forbes, Lizzie J Klotz, Rosie Macari, Alicia Colette Meehan and Alys North, with Sound Art by Sean Cotterill.

And all the Humans will be Eliminated will be performed in the Great Hall of the Discovery Museum in Blandford Square, Newcastle, on 29 March at 6:15PM and 30 March at 2:15PM and 6:15PM.
