Patrick Sandford and Kate Anderson are stepping down as joint CEOs at Southampton’s Nuffield Theatre having been at the helm for a combined 37 years.

Producer and director Sam Hodges is due to take over in June as the theatre adopts a producer-led model. In this role he will oversee an in-house team to nurture an entrepreneurial spirit at the Nuffield and to help build a vibrant artistic community with a growing and eager audience in the heart of Southampton.

Hodges is currently the producer of the Criterion Theatre in the West End. He said, “I am thrilled to be leading the Nuffield Theatre at such an important time of development and growth for both the company and the city of Southampton.

"Despite these being uncertain times for regional theatres across the country, the Nuffield is a terrific theatre supported by a brilliant and passionate team of people, making it an exciting challenge, as a programmer, as a producer and as a director.

"I am looking forward to collaborating with producers and theatres, nationally and internationally, and inviting the highest quality of directors, designers, writers and actors to Southampton.”
