Cover-up: Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company’s untold World War II story

Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company is to take to the road with Think of England, a “rollicking new play about courage, bravery and swing dancing”.

Based on real events, Think of England, written by Madeline Gould, is set in the summer of 1943. Bett and Vera travel the country hosting tea dances for RAF fighter pilots stationed nearby. What the locals do not know is that the dance is a cover for the girls’ real purpose: to send the men off to fight after experiencing certain pleasures...

Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company is “dedicated to bringing audiences high-quality, engaging theatrical experiences that tell the unheard stories of women throughout history and across the world”.

The company was set up by two graduates of the Drama Centre London, Bips Mawson and Leila Sykes, who were concerned about a lack of roles for women.

Think of England tours to the Fleece Inn, Bretforton, Worcestershire on Wednesday 9 November, Ashby De Launde village hall, Lincolnshire on Thursday, Minting village hall, Lincolnshire on Friday, Leicester Forest East parish hall on Saturday and Fairfield village hall, Worcestershire on Sunday.
