This Girl—The Cynthia Lennon Story returns to Liverpool’s Hope Street Theatre in November, following its initial 2019 sell-out run.

It tells the life story of Cynthia Powell, born in Blackpool to an evacuee mother who, after resettling in Hoylake, fell in love with a young musician while both were studying at Liverpool Art College in 1957.

This is her story before, during and after Beatlemania. Featuring original songs and musical arrangements by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Frankie Connor, Billy Kinsely and Alan Crowley the new production will feature eight new songs.

Local actors include: Jess Turton (Young Cynthia) Mikyla Jane Durkin (Older Cynthia), Mark Reader (John Lennon), Samantha Richardson (Aunt Mimi), Kevin Thomas (Brian Epstein), Maggi Green (Lillian), Abby Bush (Dot Rhone), Holly Lovelady (Phyllis McKenzie), Lee Clothworthy (Julian Lennon), Lew Freeburn (Stuart Sutcliffe), Phillip Redgrave (Paul McCartney), Addae G (Noel Charles) and Mike Howl (Jim McCartney).

It runs from November 8–14.
