The cast of The Verdict

Middle Ground Theatre Company is to revive Barry Reed’s legal thriller The Verdict which starts its second UK tour at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre in January 2019.

A new cast will appear in the production which first toured in 2017. Adapted for the stage by Margaret May Hobbs, the new tour will be directed and designed by Michael Lunney.

Ian Kelsey plays washed-up alcoholic lawyer Frank Galvin who is presented with one last chance to redeem himself when he is given an open-and-shut medical malpractice case that no one thinks he can win. Up against an unforgiving medical establishment and the might of the Catholic Church, Galvin refuses to accept an out-of-court settlement, smelling a cover-up.

Denis Lill plays Galvin’s mentor Moe Katz, Christopher Ettridge plays rival J Edgar Concannon and Paul Opacic takes the role of surgeon Rexford Towler.

Completing the cast are Richard Walsh, Karen Drury, Josephine Rogers, Michael Lunney, Okon Jones, Anne Kavanagh, Holly Jackson Walters, James Morley, Jog Maher, Alexandra Fisher and Greg Fitch.

The Verdict runs at the Belgrade Theatre from Wednesday 30 January until Saturday 2 February.
