Northern Stage Invites New Theatre Idea Submissions

Title Pending

Title Pending is part of Northern Stage's programme for developing new theatre in the north east. The aim is to find "a fresh and inspiring idea for a new piece of theatre. Once we've found it, we develop it, we nurture it, we support it and we show it."

The award is for the most innovative, thoughtful and intriguing proposal for a new piece of theatre from artists or companies who have made a commitment to working in the north east with a unique / surprising / fresh way of looking at the world.

What is offered is:

  • Two weeks development time in the most appropriate of the theatre's three performance spaces. Time to play, challenge yourselves, experiment, test ideas and take your piece to the next stage in its life. This time is designed to offer the opportunity to take a groundbreaking idea and bring it significantly closer to being produced.
  • A £2000 production budget.
  • Full company support from the Northern Stage team:
    • Technical
    • Marketing
    • Production, including creative team, workshop and wardrobe
    • Administrative
  • An experienced mentor drawn from a network of national and international theatre makers who will be asked to offer artistic and pastoral support both before, during and after the residency.
  • A showcase event, to which fellow artists, producers, programmers and funders can be invited.
  • An ongoing commitment to supporting the artist/company in moving forward.

The closing date for applications is 5PM on Friday 28 March 2014.
