Twelve adults and a member of the RSC’s young acting company from Nottingham have been cast in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s productions Henry VI: Rebellion and The Wars of the Roses.

They are Neil Brocklehurst, Julieanne Ford, Gavin Gordon, Anne Jennings, Yasmin Khan, Sally Maddison, Kathryn McAuley, John Merchant, Paul Robinson, Penny Shields, Diana Sule and Becky Valentine and 16-year-old Harli.

The adults are part of Shakespeare Nation, a community participation programme run by the RSC and its partner theatres, aimed at engaging with people who have little or no experience of Shakespeare either as a theatregoer or performer.

Initially, they will rehearse at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham before taking to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre stage from April, appearing in four performances.

Henry VI: Rebellion will run in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford from Friday 1 April until Saturday 28 May. Wars of the Roses will run from 1 April until Saturday 4 June.
