Birmingham Royal Ballet is to present its traditional Christmas treat at Birmingham Hippodrome in 2023: Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker.

Set on Christmas Eve, The Nutcracker, which features the music of Tchaikovsky, revolves around a young girl named Clara receiving a Nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift from the magician Drosselmeyer. The Nutcracker comes to life as a Prince and the magical journey begins.

The production was given a makeover in 2022 with new sets and costumes by designer John Macfarlane. The Nutcracker, which will feature 60 dancers accompanied by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, will run at the Hippodrome from Friday 17 November until Saturday 9 December.
