Three days of fun for children are served up at Preston Charter Theatre. First up, next Tuesday afternoon, there are two performances from children's favourites the Chuckle Brothers in Return of the Pirates of the River Rother 2.

On Wednesday and Thursday, again at child-friendly times, The Wheels on the Bus go round and round in a classic singalong for the whole family!

One day earlier the same show is at the Platform in Morecambe.

Comedian Jimmy Cricket is at the Grand in Clitheroe next Friday and it's no more than ten pounds.

The genial Irish comedian is back on tour with his family-friendly Great Value for a Tenner show.

Phantom of the OperaPhantom of the Opera returns to Manchester, starring John Owen Jones in the title role and Katie Hall as Christine.

Phantom became the longest running show in Broadway history in 2006 when it celebrated its 7,486th performance, surpassing the previous record holder Cats. It runs here until May 19 at the Palace Theatre.

Maxine PeakeAcclaimed theatre and television actress Maxine Peake takes the title role in David Eldridge's gripping new version of August Strindberg's Miss Julie at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre from next Wednesday.

Was It Something I Said?Norfox Young People's Theatre Company, Manchester Library Theatre's resident theatre company for young people aged between 15-18, returns to the city's Metropolitan University Capitol Theatre with Was It Something I Said?, devised entirely by the company and directed by Liz Postlethwaite, the Library's Community and Education Director.

Performances are next Friday and Saturday.

Tales From Charles DickensCharles Dickens is celebrated with an event in a city he claimed his favourite after London, and performed in a hall this coming week that he described as the most perfect in the world. The team behind the sell-out Tales From Haunted Liverpool return with Tales From Charles Dickens featuring excerpts from the author's most popular family tales including Oliver, Great Expectations and Hard Times on April 12/13 at St George's Concert Room.
