Liverpool king of comedy Ken Dodd will be providing the voice for one of the characters in Liverpool Playhouse’s Christmas comedy show Sex and the Three Day Week which runs from Friday to January 10.

Comedy legend Jimmy Cricket heads the cast of this year’s Christmas pantomime at Preston Charter Theatre. Snow White opens next Tuesday and runs through to January 3.

Sleeping Beauty opens at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre next Friday and runs to January 4. It stars Jennifer Ellison (from Dance Mums and Phantom of The Opera) as wicked fairy Carabosse.

Shrek the Musical muscles into the Palace Theatre, Manchester this Christmas, from next Tuesday through to January 11. The show is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks cinema hit.

An extra two weeks of performances have already been added to Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre’s Christmas production of hit musical comedy Little Shop Of Horrors. Demand for tickets now means the production will run from next Friday to the end of January.

York Theatre Royal’s associate company The Flanagan Collective has teamed up with Manchester-based producers Hartshorn-Hook to remount their critically acclaimed communal dining version of A Christmas Carol at Manchester’s newest pop-up theatre, The Great Northern Playhouse. It plays there from December 1 to 19 before heading to York’s Guildhall.

Peter Pan flies up to Keswick in Lakeland to become Theatre by the Lake’s annual Christmas show. Their stage production of J M Barrie’s story runs to the end of January.
