A famed Victorian detective joins the annual Christmas house party at Lancaster Castle next week. Deck the Hall with Boughs of Holly from Demi-paradise Productions has been a seasonal treat in the ancient venue for the last 15 years but from next Thursday to Saturday it gets a mystery twist with the appearance of Sherlock Holmes and trusted sidekick Dr Watson.

Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs march off to Blackburn’s King George’s Hall for the venue’s 2014 pantomime. It runs from Wednesday to December 31.

A snowstorm of fun and entertainment hits Salford’s Lowry arts centre again with the return of Slava’s Snowshow. It runs here from Tuesday to Saturday with Wednesday, Friday and Saturday matinées and is suitable for ages 8+.

The Northern Broadsides comedy of manners She Stoops To Conquer brings its current tour to The Lowry arts centre in Salford. Oliver Goldsmith’s much-loved 18th century comedy of manners is relocated, in Northern Broadsides style, from the West Country to the north of England.

Tin Tin Theatre presents Theatre Uncut at the Kings Arms Salford, from next Wednesday to Saturday. They use four of the most exciting theatre directors and companies from Manchester.

Exhilarating, shocking and stark experiences of being a teenager, running away from boredom on the streets of a northern town will be told in At Night, a rare, site-specific theatrical event taking place in the unique surroundings of the 74-year-old Rochdale Old Fire Station on Wednesday, the first and only time the venue has been used for public entertainment.

Manchester Shakespeare Company’s third production following Desperate Measures and Before Juliet is Twelve Nights or WTF, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s gender bending comedy Twelfth Night, from December 9-13 and 15-18 at Three Minute Theatre.
