World-renowned Stockport Fairey Band joins Britain’s national dance company Rambert live on stage for brass band-powered dance in Dark Arteries from Wednesday to Friday at The Lowry in Salford.

A spine-chilling whodunnit, based on the classic mysteries by G K Chesterton, comes to Preston Charter Theatre from Monday to Wednesday. In Father Brown: The Curse of The Invisible Man, multiple murders have been committed, but the culprit leaves no trace.

The drama voted the most significant English language play of the 20th century, comes to Preston Charter Theatre next Thursday to Saturday. London Classic Theatre is staging Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot and on opening night invites the audience to join in a question and answer session with the cast about this most intriguing play.

Old romantics should enjoy a re-telling of Shakespeare’s greatest love story, especially when set at the Lancashire seaside. A Tender Thing, at the Dukes in Lancaster from Thursday to October 17, imagines what would have happened to Romeo and Juliet had they lived beyond their youth, focusing on the end of a married life spent loving, bickering and laughing.

Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University is the new name for the campus’s arts organisation supporting the promotion of events for both students and the public. Formerly known as Live at LICA, Lancaster Arts launches an autumn season that takes in gigs, comedy and family events in addition to a wealth of theatre, dance, concerts and exhibitions.

HOME in Manchester next week presents the UK première of La Mélancolie Des Dragons. It’s described as an entertaining multimedia production combining performance, music, and visual art directed by HOME’s international guest artist, Paris-based theatre-maker Philippe Quesne. It runs from Thursday to Saturday, including a Saturday matinée.

Donald Robertson is Not A Stand-Up Comedian, last year’s Edinburgh Fringe show and winner of The Scottish Arts Club Award, is on a 2015 autumn tour. Catch it at The Lowry in Salford next Thursday.
