The Ballad of Rudy at the Royal Exchange Studio

Preston Charter Theatre’s annual pantomime opens Monday night and runs through to 2 January. Sleeping Beauty has been specially written, directed by and stars comedy favourite Phil Walker as Silly Billy and Phoenix Nights ‘royalty’ Archie Kelly as The King.

Since it last brought festive fun to Lancaster’s Dukes Theatre in 2013, Slightly Fat Features has won a trophy at the world's biggest comedy festival and played a West End run. The comedy troupe brings its mix of physical skill and orchestrated mayhem to The Dukes Christmas Cabaret next Thursday and Friday.

A classic fairytale will be seen in a new light when performed by a group of homeless people at The Dukes in Lancaster this Christmas. Cinderfella will be presented next Wednesday and is based on Cinderella but has been rewritten by Alternative Outcomes, a theatre company formed in 2013 by a group which uses Lancaster District Homeless Action Service.

Jack and the Beanstalk is the seasonal show offering at the Grand Theatre in Lancaster.

The cast for A Christmas Carol at Blackpool Opera House is headed by Paul Nicholas as Ebenezer Scrooge for a four-week run of the musical until 3 January.

Rudy, a young reindeer who instead of having a red nose, stands out from the crowd because of his love of music in The Ballad of Rudy in the Studio at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre from 12 December to 3 January.
