Derbyshire touring company Oddsocks is to open its own performance venue, a grade-II listed former chapel in the tiny village of Lea.

In the winter of 2020, Oddsocks artistic director Andy Barrow and creative producer Elli Mackenzie decided to sell their house and pour what money they had left into buying and renovating an abandoned chapel dating from 1671. It is now their home as well as a rehearsal room.

Oddsocks has plans to host regular activities including theatre performances and varied arts-based workshops at the chapel. There will be an open day on Saturday 12 October from 11AM until 3PM when visitors can say what they would like to see at the venue.

The first live performances at the chapel will be Oddsocks' adaptation of R.O.G.E.R. Radio Attempts Frankenstein on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 October before it goes on a national tour.
